Dead pixel failure repairs on Opel MID / OBC LCD display
Old Opel Vauxhall Omega, Astra, Meriva and other makes have the common dead / fading / disappearing pixels on the LCD display that shows the time, radio, and the on board computer messages and other functions. The problem lies with the ribbon cable / flat cable that connects the LCD display to the circuit board of the instrument cluster. The pictures below show the OBC's LCD display before and after the LCD display / ribbon flat cable replacement.
before pixel repairs - visible pixel failure
after pixel failure repairs - new ribbon cable applied
You will find ribbon cables / flat cables for the following models / units below:
--> Opel Vauxhall Omega with small OBC display
--> Opel vauxhall Zafira with small MID display
--> Opel vauxhall Omega with big OBC display (4 background lighbulbs version)
--> Opel vauxhall Omega with big OBC display (2 background lighbulbs version)
--> OPEL ASTRA ZAFIRA dashboards 2004-2009
If you see "bond-less" in the item description, then you buy a ribbon cable which does not have to be soldered in - in can be replaced simply without a soldering iren or other special tools.
If you see "heat seal connector", then you will also need a soldering iron, and a "T head" to solder the ribbon cable in.
