Dead pixel failure repairs on Opel MID / OBC LCD display

Old Opel Vauxhall Omega, Astra, Meriva and other makes have the common dead / fading / disappearing pixels on the LCD display that shows the time, radio, and the on board computer messages and other functions. The problem lies with the ribbon cable / flat cable that connects the LCD display to the circuit board of the instrument cluster.
